Rotary International District 6960 has been operating disaster recovery teams in response to Hurricane Milton, with disaster response trailers currently available at central locations, including the Venice Art Center, 390 Nokomis Ave. S., Venice, and in Englewood at 200 S. Indiana Ave.
The trailers are stocked with tools – including chainsaws to cut dangerous tree limbs – a cadre of volunteers to help clean up storm-ravaged properties, as well as hot water and everything for people impacted by natural disasters to clean up, too.
On Saturday in Venice, Rotary volunteers will be joined by several groups, including Venice city government, the Venice Police Department, Sertoma Club of Venice, Women’s Sertoma Club of Venice, Lions Club of Venice, Venice High School Athletics, Girl Scouts of Sarasota County, Venice Art Center, Venice Symphony, Laurel Civic Center and other local organizations.
Volunteers are always welcome. Morning shifts start at 9 a.m., afternoon shifts at 1 p.m.
